Dear bargain book dealers, book store buyers,
acquisition librarians and Web surfers:

The Anvil Publishers Spring Book Show catalog below includes titles we will offer at the Spring Book Show at Atlanta's World Congress Center on March 23-25.

Almost all are in pristine warehouse condition. If they're slightly worn returns, we note that.

At the Spring Book Show proper, buyers are encouraged to place minimum orders - usually orders by the skid or a minimum of 25 copies. While the vendors below also encourage bulk purchases by offering the lowest prices for the biggest orders, most permit single-copy orders placed on the Web using our convenient shopping cart buttons.

If you are placing a bulk order (more than 1-2 copies), please contact us by email or phone for the latest and best terms. Bookstore buyers and other clients: please note that in the remainder market, the buyer pays shipping and there are no returns except for defective product.

If a book cover icon below is too small for your liking, click on it and it will enlarge.

If you have questions or don't like placing orders on the Web using shopping cart buttons, please contact us by email - custserv@anvilpub.com - or call us at 770-938-0289. We'll be happy to help you. And thanks for your interest.

Beverly "Doc Potter" Potter,  Ph.D. Get Peak Performance: How To Manage Like a Coach. Ronin Publishing, 2004.

Explains that while many managers strive to be liked, “nice-guys" make bum bosses because they are often vague in their directives and withhold feedback that employees need to improve. Drill instructor-type manager make better bosses because employees know where they stand and what is expected, but they don't build a team.  Managers who function like coaches make the best bosses because they develop their staff as individuals and as a team so that they can perform at their peak.  Docpotter offers a simple but powerful method for integrating coaching into everyday management responsibilities.  TASC Plus is a step-by-step process for conveying performance expectations and providing feedback on progress towards achieving them, as well as for negotiating future performance goals and providing reinforcing acknowledgment for on-tasc performance. Get Peak Performance explains the theoretical basis of scientific behavior change — behavior mod — and proven strategies for eliminating unproductive behavior and for promoting peak performance every day. Describes how to use reinforcement — tailored rewards — along with other techniques like pinpointing, goal setting, shaping, and modeling in the everyday work environment to generate motivation to perform at one's peak.

 Fiction - Romance

Meldal-Johnsen, Trevor. Always. Bamboo Grove Publishers, 2000.

Screenwriter Trevor Meldal-Johnsen of New Zealand, married to Corinne Simon-Duneau of France, is one of the great romance writers, and Always, set in the Hollywood that filmed a number of his romances into classic movies, is one of his greatest works. In the original Avon edition, this romantic thriller sold more than a million copies. The hardback commemorative edition, unlike many inexpensively produced romances, was printed on acid-free cream-wove paper and smythe-sewn to last.

"Always is not your typical romance. From the time I began reading the first page, until I read the last word, I didn't want to put the book down. Trevor Meldal-Johnsen has written a tale that will not diminish with time." - Brenda Gayle, Romance Communication.

"We were simply fascinated by the story. Old Hollywood, new Hollywood, and the most theatrical, bizarre and haunting theme of love after death. We love this book." David Brown, co-producer of "The Sting" and "Jaws."

This book gives the reader a sense of the scope of the cruise ship industry, tracing the backgrounds of various cruise lines and providing information about the time, money, and effort that go into the myriad details encountered between building plan and cruising itinerary. From shipbuilders to cruise operators and the peripheral businesses of airlines, hotels, and land‑based transportation and tour companies, cruise ships have spawned a far‑reaching network that affects millions of passengers and involves billions of dollars. According to maritime historian John Maxtone‑Graham, "The Cruise Ship Phenomenon in North America is not only a good and fascinating read, it is also an unrivaled work of reference....  Memoirs

Lacy, Sam, with Moses J. Newson. Fighting for Fairness: The Life Story of Hall of Fame Sportswriter Sam Lacy. Tidewater Publishers, 1998.

Fighting for Fairness is the account of sportswriter Sam Lacy's career-long battle to lower racial barriers in sports. Lacy spearheaded integration in major league baseball, and recognition of this achievement led to his induction into the writers wing of the Baseball Hall of Fame on July 26, 1998.  Sam Lacy's on‑the‑scene accounts of sports events and insider stories about legendary sports figures are unmatched. Lacy lived with sports heroes like Jackie Robinson and Larry Doby in the segregated accommodations to which they were relegated for years, despite their outstanding performances on the playing field. This extraordinary book stands as a mirror of the progress America has made in race relations during Sam Lacy's lifetime.

Wofford, J.B., M.D. The Witch Doctor's Dance. Bright Mountain Books, Inc., 1999.

Scientific advances and social changes after World War II altered the practice of medicine for both doctor and patient, as these touching and often humorous stories of a Southern doctor's house calls and emergency-room incidents reveal. These stories provide an inside look at medicine from coal-mining towns in Kentucky to sophisticated Southern urban medical centers and often prove Dr. Wofford's theory that healing is a spiritual dance that joins knowledge and hope.

 Nature and Wildlife

Levinson, John M., and Somers G. Headley. Shorebirds: The Birds, the Hunters, the Decoys. Tidewater Publishers, 1991.

With both novice and experienced decoy collectors in mind, the authors have created a thorough study of shorebirds and the decoys used to hunt them. The life cycles of the frequently hunted birds are described; matchless color illustrations by Robert Verity Clem depict each species in its usual habitat. There is a discussion of the rise and fall of shorebird hunting, the places the birds were hunted, and the kinds of decoys used. Because shorebird hunting ended in the early 1900s, many shorebird decoys are quite rare and collectible. Beautiful color photographs of more than two hundred decoys highlight this carefully documented book.

It’s not survival of the fittest; it’s the evolution of the fastest in the human race. Evolutionary agents are catalysts, stimulating mutation and migration.  They are “out-castes”—cast out, thrown forward, pushed up, above and beyond contemporary realities. Intelligence is not a matter of I.Q. but of DNA. Mobility is the key to increased intelligence. All suffering is caused by being in the wrong place—move! The only smart thing to do is to get smarter.

Salahuddin, Abubakr I. The Afrocentric Myth. New World Order Press, 1995.

On his search for truth, the author of Saving the Savior was by turns a Black Panther, a Black Muslim, an Ahmadi, and finally, a Baha'i. A brilliant thinker and sharp observer of society, in Afrocentric Myth he warns - like Malcolm X - of the shortcomings of negritude or reverse racism as a trap, a schism between progressive forces along racial lines.

 Social Sciences - Psychology

Leary, Timothy. Politics of Self-Determination. Ronin Publishing, 2000.

Leary’s bedrock work. As a graduate student, Leary created a theory of personality that was a significant catalyst sparking the human growth movement and got him his Harvard appointment— before LSD. Shows Leary’s views on personal freedom when he was a young psychologist and how they evolved and morphed by the end of his career. Nestled here and there are glimpses of the ronin attitudes that propelled him and the strategies that he used to get around the system to pursue his research.
